We chose Sadie because she is consistent and cares so much about the work she put in (even will cry sometimes during a workout)! She constantly works on your weaknesses and she got your first muscle up recently! Lastly, she is fun and energetic too!

Tell us a little about yourself:

I’m originally from southwest MN, went to nursing school in Brookings (Go Jacks) and then came to Sioux Falls for work. About 2 years ago, I got a job as a flight nurse for Avera Careflight. I live in town with my husband, Jacob, who is a welder, and my dog, Bella. No, Jacob doesn’t want to do CrossFit but we do love climbing together!

How & when did you get introduced to Crossfit and what made you want to continue coming?

I work with Chad, Jathan, and Jesse and they convinced me to come to a class. I even got a discount on buying my Apple Watch in exchange to coming to a class. I made fun of it constantly before I joined. When I finally came to a class last July, the friendly, welcoming atmosphere really drew me in. I love the community of CrossFit, as well as the competition and diversity of lifting/gymnastics.

When do you normally workout (what class) and what do you like about that group?

I’m a 5am-er or a 4:30pm-er, depending on my work schedule. I love both of those classes, and everyone is so uplifting! Our 4:30 class can get pretty silly, which is fun.

What are some of the biggest improvements you’ve made since starting? Have you had any frustrations you’ve had to work through in the process?

I got a bar muscle up! I am super proud of that, as it’s something I’ve come early and stayed late to work on. I think the most frustrating things have been double unders and snatching, which both of those are things I’ve tried to face head on and work on as much as possible. I’m sure everyone has seen me throw my jump rope a time or three.

How do you manage to stay consistent in your gym attendance?

I no longer look at my schedule and say “am I going to the gym today?” I look at it and find a time to go. It’s definitely become a habit. Having friendly faces at each class makes me want to come each day. I may also have a hard time taking rest days, haha.

If you had to pick a vehicle/song/movie roll that fit your personality, what would it be and why?

I don’t have a comparison to a car, movie or song, but I have been compared to my dog Bella, who is a yellow lab. She’s eager to please others, happy, energetic, a little crazy, not always the brightest, and loves to be around people.

If you were a wrestler what would be your entrance theme song?

Uptown funk- because who doesn’t know the words to that song

And finally, what do you appreciate most about Phos?

I’ve made so many amazing connections at Phos. I love how all the coaches know all the athletes. Everyone is so welcoming, and all accomplishments are celebrated. I’m always looking forward to going because of the people.
